Punica granatum (pomegranate) has a long history of use in herbal medicine, especially in the form of infusions, decoctions, tinctures, and poultices. Among the Bedouin of the Arabian Peninsula, Al‑Khalifah et al., 2019 reported that a decoction of dried pomegranate leaves was brewed to relieve stomach aches and diarrhea, while the bark was macerated in alcohol to produce a tincture used for coughs. In West Africa, Adeyemi et al., 2020 documented that the Yoruba people prepare a tea from the fruit peel to treat skin infections and apply a poultice of crushed leaves to wounds, noting its cooling and astringent properties.
