Psidium guajava leaves are widely used in traditional medicine across Latin America, South Asia, and the Caribbean. In the highlands of Mexico, the Nahua people brew a decoction of fresh or dried leaves to treat acute diarrhea and dysentery; the preparation involves simmering the leaves in water for 15 minutes before straining, as documented by López et al., 2019. In rural villages of northern India, the Gurjar community prepares a mild tea from crushed leaves to relieve fever and body aches; the leaves are steeped in hot water for 10 minutes, according to Kumar et al., 2018.
