Fragaria × ananassa (Duchesne ex Weston) Duchesne ex Rozier is not the usual subject of ethnomedicine and lacks the body of record that older, wild species of Fragaria have for teas or decoctions. Most historical and herbal references for leaf infusions—tonics, diuretics, and gentle astringents—mention woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca) rather than the garden strawberry. European and American 19th‑century manuals, while detailed for wild strawberries, generally do not apply the same preparations to the modern cultivar complex F. × ananassa.
