Drosera peltata, also known as the shield sundew or pale sundew, is a climbing or scrambling perennial tuberous plant in the carnivorous plant genus Drosera. It has the largest distribution among tuberous sundews, found in eastern and western Australia, New Zealand, India, and most of Southeast Asia. Its specific epithet, peltata, refers to the shape of its leaves. There is uncertainty about its taxonomic boundaries, with some considering it a single species and others a complex of closely related species. It has several forms, including Drosera peltata subsp. peltata, D. peltata subsp. auriculata, D. foliosa, and D. gracilis. Tuberous sundews, like D. peltata, have evolved to survive in summer drought conditions by aestivating as dormant underground tubers. D. peltata is an upright species with a simple or branching inflorescence. It has a wide range of forms, with heights ranging from 5-50 cm and varying colors. It is commonly found in frost-free open flats, regenerating forests, and grassy areas with clay or peaty soil. D. pelt
