Common products:
The principal commercial product of Aglaia elaeagnoidea is timber derived from the heartwood. The wood is marketed as a heavy, durable structural timber for construction, as a furniture wood, and as a decorative veneer.

Industrial and craft applications:
The dense, strong wood is used in joinery, for turned objects such as tool handles, and in more robust applications such as railway sleepers, marine piles, and heavy-duty construction elements. Its natural resistance to termite and fungal attack makes it suitable for outdoor structural uses without extensive chemical preservation.

Colorants and tanning:
The bark of A. elaeagnoidea contains hydrolyzable tannins that are extracted for use in leather tanning. The tannin extract is employed as a natural brown dye for protein fibers and as a tanning agent in the leather industry.

Wood and fiber:
The species yields a hard, dense hardwood with a high lignin content (≈30 % of dry wood) and a typical air‑dry density of 0.70–0.80 g cm⁻³. These properties give the wood good strength and durability, making it suitable for furniture, interior trim, and structural applications. No significant bast‑fiber utilization is reported.

Sustainability and sourcing:
The species occurs in South‑ and Southeast‑Asian forests, with natural stands harvested for timber and bark. Over‑exploitation in some regions has led to local population declines; therefore, responsible management and certification (FSC/PEFC) are recommended for commercial supply. Plantations for rapid growth are being established in some countries to reduce pressure on wild populations.
