Dodonaea viscosa, commonly called hop bush, has a long record of use by indigenous peoples of Australia, South Africa, and the Caribbean for treating skin irritations, fevers, and respiratory complaints. Among the Wajarri of Western Australia, the leaves and bark were boiled into a decoction to relieve cough and chest pain, a practice documented by Smith et al., 2015.
