Traditional infusions and decoctions of Kokoona reflexa have been recorded in the Malay Peninsula and Sarawak. In the Malay tradition of Kedah, lemon‑grass‑flavored leaf tea is prepared for mild fevers, while wood infusions are given to postpartum mothers as a “tonic”; both are noted in Yunus et al., 1979. In Sarawak, the Iban steam‑boil young leaves to make a refreshing tea and chew fresh shoots to settle the stomach, as reported by Davies, 2010. The Kadazan‑Dusun reduce root bark in water for decoctions used to treat fevers and gastric upsets, and the Penan prepare young‑leaf infusions for coughs and colds; these uses are compiled by Nicholson & Ibrahim, 1984 and Lim & Noor, 1995. Wood and fiber:
Kokoona reflexa is used as a general construction timber, commonly employed for internal framing, flooring (board-type), joinery, furniture, cabinet work, moldings, tool handles, and poles. The species provides a reddish-brown hardwood suitable for interior applications, with susceptibility to insect attack limiting outdoor use unless treated.

Industrial and craft applications:
The timber is used in core stock for flush doors and plywood, as well as for sports goods such as batons and handles. It is suitable for interior-grade veneers and is processed into cross-laminated or glued-laminated elements for non-structural interior uses.

Properties relevant to use:
Air-dry density: 560–740 kg/m3 at about 12% moisture content. Basic density reported near 500 kg/m3. Wood is easy to air-season, with moderate shrinkage (green to 12% MC: radial about 3.0–4.0%, tangential about 6.0–7.0%) and stability after seasoning. Modulus of rupture around 60–80 N/mm2, modulus of elasticity 8,000–11,000 N/mm2. Classification in Indian timber grading as Group C (Indian Standards: IS 399). Non-durable to moderately durable under dry indoor conditions; resistant to dry-wood borers but susceptible to termites and Lyctus; natural preservative treatment is difficult.

Sustainability and sourcing:
The species occurs in Sri Lanka and the Western Ghats of India. It is harvested from natural forests; population status and availability vary locally, and targeted propagation is generally limited. Following sustainable forestry practices is recommended to maintain supply and local biodiversity.
