Glycyrrhiza uralensis, commonly known as Chinese licorice, has a long history of use in East Asian traditional medicine. In Chinese pharmacopeia, the dried root is boiled to produce a decoction that is taken for cough, sore throat, and to soothe the stomach; this practice is documented in the *Shennong Bencao Jing* and confirmed by modern reviews such as Li et al., 2015. Among the Mongolian people of the Gobi, the root is ground into a powder and mixed with hot water to make a tea that relieves respiratory irritation, a use reported by Khan et al., 2019. In Korean traditional medicine, a tincture of the root is prepared with 70 % ethanol and used as a mild anti‑inflammatory poultice for skin conditions, as described by Kim et al., 2017.
