Euonymus alatus, also known as winged spindle or burning bush, is a flowering plant native to central and northern China, Japan, and Korea. It gets its name from the bright red color of its leaves in the fall. This deciduous shrub is popular in gardens and parks due to its attractive fruit and vibrant fall foliage. It can grow up to 20 feet tall and has distinctive winged branches. However, all parts of the plant are toxic if ingested. It has been used in traditional Chinese and Korean medicine and is considered an invasive species in some parts of the world.
