Excoecaria agallocha, the bitter mangrove, has been a staple of coastal folk medicine for centuries. In the Sundarbans of Bangladesh, the dried bark is ground into a fine powder and applied as a poultice to cuts, bruises, and skin infections; this practice was recorded by Hossain et al., 2015.
