Prunus mandshurica, also known as Manchurian apricot or scout apricot, is a cold-resistant tree native to northeast China, Korea, and Manchuria. It was first described in 1883 and is closely related to the Siberian apricot. This deciduous tree can reach up to 10 meters in height and has oval leaves, white or pale pink flowers, and yellow fruits. Its oil has been studied as a potential source of biodiesel and is also used in cosmetics and traditional Chinese medicine. There are several cultivars of Prunus mandshurica, and it is known by different names in different regions, such as the northeastern apricot in China and the gaesalgu tree in Korea.
