Food and beverages (non-medicinal):
Biriba fruit (Annona mucosa) is consumed fresh. The pulp is also used in beverages and desserts such as ice cream and fruit pastes; whole fruits are occasionally processed into syrups or compotes. Fruit maturity is assessed by slight give under pressure; early-harvested fruits are often further ripened off the plant before fresh consumption or processing. Beyond culinary use, the plant is cultivated for fruit production in parts of tropical America.
