Dried aerial parts (herb) are sold as a flavoring ingredient in commercial herbal tea blends, and the essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation of the aerial biomass is supplied by fragrance manufacturers for use in perfumery and personal‑care products.

Industrial and craft applications:
The essential oil’s high monoterpene content (approximately 60–70 % α‑ and β‑pinene, camphor, 1,8‑cineole) gives a fresh, pine‑like scent that is used in scented soaps, detergents, and candle formulations. Its volatility and solubility make it suitable for cold‑process candle making and for aroma‑diffuser applications.

Food and beverages (non-medicinal):
Commercial mountain‑tea blends in Greece occasionally include S. euboea dried herb as a flavoring component; the product is sold as a beverage ingredient without any medicinal claims. The plant material may also appear in specialty liqueurs as a flavoring agent.

Fragrance and cosmetics:
The essential oil is listed in supplier catalogues for use as a natural fragrance in creams, lotions, and hair‑care preparations. Its aromatic profile complies with the EU Cosmetic Regulation (EC No 1223/2009) for cosmetic fragrance ingredients.

Properties relevant to use:
Hydrodistillation yields a colorless to pale‑yellow oil with a characteristic pine‑herb aroma. Chemical analysis reports monoterpene hydrocarbons (≈60–70 % of total oil) and oxygenated monoterpenes (≈10–15 %). The oil’s relatively low viscosity and high volatility enable easy incorporation into solvent‑based formulations. When marketed as a flavoring, the product must meet the EU Flavouring Regulation (EC No 1334/2008) concerning permissible flavoring substances. Cosmetic uses are regulated under the EU Cosmetic Regulation (EC No 1223/2009) which requires safety assessments and compliance with ingredient listings.

Sustainability and sourcing:
S. euboea is endemic to the island of Evvoia (Euboea) and its natural populations are limited. Commercial extraction relies on wild‑collected plant material, leading to concerns about over‑harvest. Recent agronomic trials in Greece aim to develop cultivated production to reduce pressure on wild populations and to ensure a steady supply for essential‑oil producers.
