Betula ermanii, or Erman's birch, is a species of birch tree native to Northeast China, Korea, Japan, and the Russian Far East. It can grow up to 20 metres (66 ft) tall and is noted for its peeling bark. In spring, yellow-brown male catkins appear with the leaves. Erman's birch is widely cultivated outside its natural range and is a popular street tree in London and other British towns and cities. The cultivar 'Grayswood Hill' has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
