It is a large evergreen tree, growing up to 25 m (82 ft) tall. The trunk is straight and cylindrical, with a diameter of up to 1 m (3.3 ft). The bark is grayish-brown and scaly. The leaves are alternate, simple, and oblong-lanceolate, up to 15 cm (5.9 in) long and 5 cm (2.0 in) wide. The flowers are small, white, and fragrant, with four petals. The fruit is a drupe, up to 5 cm (2.0 in) in diameter, with a single seed.

Eschweilera coriacea is a large evergreen tree native to Honduras, Panama and South America. It can grow up to 25 m (82 ft) tall with a trunk diameter of up to 1 m (3.3 ft).
