Among the Germanic peoples of Central Europe, Schmid (1995) recorded that dried leaves of Anthriscus sylvestris were boiled into a decoction to relieve stomach cramps and used as a mild tea for colic. In Polish folk medicine, Kaczmarek (2003) described a poultice of fresh leaves applied to the abdomen to ease menstrual pain, and a tea of the root for digestive upset. In the British herbal tradition, Smith (2010) noted that a tincture of the whole plant was used as a cough suppressant and a tea of the leaves for mild diarrhea. In the Alpine region, local healers also prepared an infusion of the leaves to treat nausea, as documented by Müller (1988).
