Sorbaria sorbifolia, also known as false spiraea or false spirea, is a deciduous shrub in the Rosaceae family. It has compound, toothed leaves that resemble ferns or sumac and can turn red in the fall. The white flowers bloom in July and August and are clustered at the end of the branches. This plant is native to temperate regions of Asia and has been introduced as an ornamental in Europe and North America. The cultivar 'Sem' has gained recognition for its multicolored leaves and has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
