Desmodium uncinatum, also known as the silverleaf desmodium, is a flowering plant in the Fabaceae family that is native to Latin America. It has been introduced as a fodder to various regions including Africa, India, New Guinea, Australia, and Hawaii. While it is primarily used as a fodder, it can also serve as pasture, deferred feed, cut-and-carry, hay, ground cover, and mulch. However, it is considered invasive in Australia and Hawaii. This species of Desmodium has also been utilized in the push-pull technology for pest management, where it is grown as an intercrop between rows of cereal crops to control stem-boring insects and fall armyworms. Along with D. intortum (greenleaf desmodium), it is one of the most commonly used intercrops in push-pull technology.
