Huperzia lucidula, also known as the shining firmoss or shining clubmoss, is a bright evergreen plant that belongs to the Huperzia genus. It grows in loose tufts and can reach lengths of up to 1 meter. The leaves are narrow, lance-shaped, and have irregularly toothed edges. The plant reproduces through spore production or the spread of small buds called gemmae. Its roots grow from an underground rhizome. The shining firmoss can be found in Canada and the United States, particularly in cool, moist forests and bog areas. Its name, lucidula, means "shining" in Latin, which refers to its bright green color.
