Penstemon acuminatus, also known as sharpleaf penstemon or sand-dune penstemon, is a flowering plant in the plantain family. It is native to the northwestern United States, specifically in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Nevada. This perennial herb can grow up to 60 centimeters tall and has erect stems. Its leaves are fleshy and may have a waxy texture, with the basal leaves being longer than those higher on the stem. The flowers are tubular and come in shades of blue, purple, or pink, with a yellow-haired staminode. This plant is typically found in sandy habitats, such as dunes. It is often used for revegetation of wildlife habitats, landscaping and gardens, and seeding roadsides.
