Marjoram is a perennial herb with a sweet pine and citrus flavor that is native to the Mediterranean region and parts of Asia. It is closely related to oregano and is sometimes referred to as pot marjoram. In ancient times, it was seen as a symbol of happiness and was used in various cultures for medicinal purposes. Today, it is primarily used for culinary purposes and is popular in low-fat and low-salt diets. Marjoram is easy to cultivate and is often grown in pots to prevent it from taking over a garden. It is used in a variety of dishes, including soups, stews, and herbal teas. Medicinally, it has been used to treat a range of ailments, and some of its uses have been scientifically proven. However, it should be used with caution by pregnant or lactating women.
