Lonicera periclymenum, also known as honeysuckle, is a flowering plant native to Europe, North Africa, Turkey, and the Caucasus. It is a deciduous climber that can reach up to 7 meters in height and is often found in woodlands, hedgerows, and scrublands. Its tubular, two-lipped flowers are highly scented and attract moths and bees for pollination. The plant also produces bright red berries that are eaten by birds. In gardens, Lonicera periclymenum is valued for its ability to cover unsightly structures and its fragrant flowers. However, it can also attract pests such as the honeysuckle leaf miner. The plant has also been referenced in literature, including in William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
