Erysimum cheiranthoides, also known as treacle-mustard, wormseed wallflower, or wormseed mustard, is a herbaceous plant native to central and northern Europe and central and northern Asia. It is similar in appearance to other mustards, growing up to 100 cm tall with bright yellow flowers and slender cylindrical capsules containing small seeds. It has a long history of medicinal use, with its name "treacle mustard" coming from its use as an antidote for poisonous bites. E. cheiranthoides produces two major classes of defensive chemicals, glucosinolates and cardiac glycosides, which make it unappealing to some herbivores. It is also commonly used as a model organism in genetic research due to its genetic similarities to Arabidopsis thaliana. While it has been used in traditional Chinese medicine and European herbalism, it is not a commonly used source of cardiac glycosides.
