Attalea phalerata, also known as urucuri palm, is a species of palm tree native to Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Peru. It is the most common palm tree in the Pantanal region and can grow up to 18 meters tall with feather-like leaves and bright orange fruits. This palm is ecologically important and is dispersed by various animals such as tapirs, rheas, and macaws. It is also commonly pollinated by sap beetles and weevils. The tree has various human uses, including thatching rooftops, feeding livestock, and producing vegetable oil. In Bolivia, it is known as motacú and is considered one of the most economically important palm species.
