Past identification has mixed arrowleaf with the similar bluebell, or cyrtanthus. The two may be indistinguishable until bloom, so it’s safest to verify after flowering. Otherwise, choose a patch with intermediate or possibly arrowleaf. Alternatively, delay identification until buds appear, then cut the bare flower stalk and compare perianth segments, leaf sheath teeth, and any rhizome axis. Leave bulbs undisturbed while cutting, and mark the colony for later confirmation.
