Rumohra adiantiformis, also known as the leather fern or leatherleaf fern, is a species of fern found in the wood fern family Dryopteridaceae. It is a bushy, evergreen plant with glossy dark green fronds that can grow up to 90 cm tall and wide. This fern is widely distributed in the tropical Southern Hemisphere, including South America, the Caribbean, southern Africa, and Australasia. It is known by various names such as leathery shieldfern, iron fern, 7-weeks-fern, and climbing shield fern. Rumohra adiantiformis is often cultivated as an ornamental plant for groundcover and in floristry, and has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in the UK. In Brazil, it is of economic importance as many people earn their income by harvesting and selling the fronds for use in flower arrangements. This fern is also an important part of plant associations in various regions, such as the podocarp/broadleaf forests of Westland, New Zealand.
