Common products:
The principal non-medicinal product is essential oil recovered by steam distillation of foliage/wood; major constituents typically include alpha-pinene, sabinene, limonene, and alpha-terpinyl acetate.

Industrial and craft applications:
The essential oil (rich in monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes) is used as a fragrance component in soaps and candles and as a raw material in fragrance compounding. Leafy branches may be incorporated into decorative craft work.

Wood and fiber:
The wood is compact and fragrant and has been used for small craft items and incensewood in East Asia; heartwood extractives can be used as natural protein-fiber colorants and tanning agents.

Fragrance and cosmetics:
Foliar/wood essential oil functions as a fragrance ingredient; its monoterpene profile supports citrus- and resinous-type accords and can provide fixative effects through sesquiterpene content.

Properties relevant to use:
Oil typically shows a pale yellow to colorless liquid with a characteristic coniferous-resinous odor. Monoterpene content imparts volatility; the presence of resinous sesquiterpenes contributes to tenacity. Coumarin-type compounds in foliage are associated with fluorescence effects in protein-fiber dyeing.

If the oil or extracts are used in consumer products, fragrance/aroma–chemical regulations, IFRA standards, and any relevant national/regional cosmetic or essential-oil guidelines may apply.

Sustainability and sourcing:
Populations across parts of China and Taiwan are locally overexploited for essential oil and wood. Wild harvest raises conservation concerns, and regional assessments have been recommended.
