Orostachys japonica, also known as rock pine, is a flowering plant in the Crassulaceae family native to East Asia. It is commonly found on the surface of mountain rocks in Korea, Japan, and China. This biennial or perennial plant grows up to 10 centimeters and produces white flowers from September to October. Its rosette leaves resemble a spatula and its unique shape has earned it the nickname "rock pine." Orostachys japonica thrives in well-drained, nutrient-poor soils and can tolerate a range of pH levels. In traditional Korean medicine, its leaves and stems are used to treat various conditions such as cancer, gingivitis, and inflammation. Scientific studies have also shown its potential as an anti-cancer agent due to its active constituents.
