Ceanothus sanguineus, also known as redstem ceanothus, is a shrub native to western North America. It can be found in temperate coniferous forests and can reach a height of 3 meters. The stem is red to purple in color and the leaves are thin, light green, and oval with glandular teeth. The flowers are white and the fruit is a three-lobed capsule. This shrub is an important food source for wild ungulates and is also consumed by livestock and other animals. Its roots have nitrogen fixing nodules.
