Origanum onites, also known as Cretan oregano, Greek oregano, pot marjoram, or Ellinikí rίgani, is a species of plant found in Sicily, Greece, and Turkey. It has a similar flavor to oregano and its essential oil has antimicrobial properties. The plant contains thymol, carvacrol, and cedrol, which distinguish it from other oregano species.
