Vaccinium myrsinites, also known as shiny blueberry, is a flowering plant native to the southeastern United States. It can reach up to one meter in height and forms large colonies through its rhizomatous growth. The plant has evergreen or deciduous leaves and produces white to pink or red-tinged flowers in clusters. Its fruit is a black or waxy blue berry containing several seeds. This species can be found in various habitats, including prairies, pine barrens, and disturbed areas. It is adapted to fire and can reproduce through both sprouting and seed dispersal. V. myrsinites is likely a hybrid of two other blueberry species and has been used by the Seminole for food and medicinal purposes.
