Portulaca pilosa, also known as pink purslane, is a succulent plant in the purslane family that is native to the Americas. It is also known as kiss-me-quick and hairy pigweed. This highly variable species has linear leaves and pink flowers, and its name comes from the long soft hairs that cover its leaves. It is found in a wide range of habitats, from arid to moist environments, and exhibits different growth habits depending on its surroundings. It is a pantropical species, with a range that extends from the southern United States to Brazil. In the United States, it is commonly found in southern states such as Arkansas, Texas, and Florida. This plant has been used in traditional medicine for its diuretic, antipyretic, and analgesic properties. Studies have shown that its extracts have renal effects, causing an increase in potassium excretion.
