Urospermum picroides, also known as prickly goldenfleece, is a flowering plant in the Asteraceae family. It is native to Eurasia but has been introduced to many other regions, including North and South America, Australia, and southern Africa. It is commonly found as a weed in disturbed areas. This annual herb can grow up to 30-50 centimeters tall and is covered in long hairs and bristles. Its leaves are bristly and divided into sharp-toothed lobes. The flower heads are yellow and surrounded by pointed phyllaries covered in bristly hairs. The fruit is an achene with a pappus of bristles.
