Sanicula graveolens, also known as northern sanicle or Sierra blacksnakeroot, is a flowering plant in the Apiaceae family. It can be found in western North America and southern South America, specifically in areas such as British Columbia, Montana, California, and southern Chile. This perennial herb grows up to half a meter tall and has compound leaves with three deeply lobed and toothed leaflets. Its inflorescence consists of small, yellow-petaled flowers and its fruits are covered in prickles and borne in clusters. It typically grows in mountain slopes, forests, and woodlands on serpentine soils.
