Abies cilicica, also known as Cilician fir or Taurus fir, is a conifer species found in Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey. It is a predominant tree in the Abeti-Cedrion forests of the Taurus Mountains, occurring at elevations between 800 and 2,100 meters. These forests have been greatly reduced due to human activities such as logging, burning, and grazing. In 2009, archaeologists discovered blocks of resin from the Cilician fir tree at an ancient port in Egypt, indicating its use in mummification and various medicinal purposes. In Turkey, the Cilician fir is a commonly used source of timber for construction, but it is not widely cultivated due to its vulnerability to late frost.
