This is a summary of Alpinia rafflesiana, a perennial herb native to peninsular Malaysia. It typically grows 0.5-2 meters tall and has bright orange flowers with dark orange bracts and boat-shaped lobes. It is mainly cultivated as a medicinal crop and the fruit is used as an anti-inflammatory and alternative cancer treatment. The leaves, pseudo-stems, rhizomes, and fruit are used to produce essential oils with antimicrobial properties. The leaves are also used to shrink and drain boils.
