Solanum opacum, also known as green berry nightshade or morelle verte, is a flowering plant in the Solanaceae family. It is native to eastern Australia and is part of the black nightshade group. This sprawling annual herb has ovate to lanceolate leaves with shallowly lobed margins and is covered in fine hairs. Its white stellate flowers are 8-12 mm in diameter and produce small green berries that are 8-10 mm in diameter when mature. These berries are sometimes cultivated as a rare fruit and are described as having a spicy-sweet flavor. While an unidentified alkaloidal aglycone has been found in the fruits, it is not present in the leaves or stems.
