Solanum chippendalei, also known as solanum, bush tomato, ngaru, or Chippendale's tomato, is a small fruiting shrub native to northern Australia. It is named after its discoverer, George Chippendale, and its fruits, known as "bush tomatoes", are edible and an important indigenous food source. The species is found in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and Queensland, in various regions such as Mount Isa Inlier, Burt Plain, and Gascoyne. It thrives in spinifex-dominated rocky or gravelly areas, as well as recently burnt or disturbed areas. S. chippendalei has multiple Indigenous names, reflecting its significance in the Central desert and its many language groups. These names include anaweyt, anemangkerr, kanakety, antyewal, rambaramba, and nganjawarli, among others.
