Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi, also known as Bryophyllum fedtschenkoi, is a popular house and garden plant native to Madagascar. It has also been found growing in the wild in some southern parts of the United States. The plant is named after botanist Boris Fedtschenko and is a low-growing succulent that prefers dry, open ground. Its stems are round and produce roots and new plants when they touch the ground. The leaves are fleshy and oval with scalloped edges that may turn pink or red in certain conditions. The plant produces tubular, orange/coral/apricot colored flowers in clusters. It is commonly known as ‘Lavender Scallops’ due to the shape and color of its leaves. While it is generally pest-resistant, it may occasionally attract mealy bugs or scale insects.
