This is a summary of Acer pentaphyllum, a rare and endangered maple species found in southwestern Sichuan, China. It is listed as "critically endangered" on the Red List of Threatened Species by IUCN with a recorded population of less than 500 plants left in the wild. Several concerned individuals and organizations have been working to ensure this species is conserved and saved from extinction, such as the UBC Botanic Garden establishing an Ex-situ conservation site and the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) establishing ex-situ conservation sites and filing a civil public interest environmental lawsuit against a hydropower company.
