Amyris elemifera, also known as sea torchwood, is a flowering plant in the citrus family native to Florida, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Its name comes from the Greek word for "resin bearing". This species can grow up to 12 meters tall and has fragrant foliage and small white flowers that attract wildlife. It can tolerate various soil types and is used for fences, fuel, and honey production. The wood is also resistant to termites and has yielded a compound with antibiotic properties. In Florida, it is an important food source for the endangered Schaus' Swallowtail butterfly.
