Dysoxylum mollissimum subsp. molle, also known as the red bean or Miva mahogany, is a large rainforest tree found in eastern Australia, Malesia, and the south-western Pacific Islands. It is typically found in tropical, sub-tropical, and littoral rainforests, and can grow up to 35 meters tall with a trunk diameter of 120 cm. The tree is easily identifiable by its soft, hairy leaflets and onion-like scent of its bark. Its white flowers bloom from January to July, and its fruit, a fawnish brown capsule, ripens between November and March. This species is considered least concern by conservation organizations and is known for its high-quality mahogany timber, although there are concerns about inhaling wood dust from this tree. A signposted red bean tree can be seen at the Victoria Park Nature Reserve in New South Wales.
