Prunus rufa, also known as Himalayan cherry, is a small deciduous tree that is native to Nepal and Burma. It is often used as an ornamental tree for its beautiful shiny brown bark. This species has been found growing at high altitudes of up to 3,925 meters in the Himalayas. Its leaves are small and its calyx tubes are 11-15 mm long. The bark is smooth and has prominent horizontal lenticels, similar to other cherry species found in the Himalayas. It is closely related to four other Himalayan species of Prunus and is sometimes considered a synonym of Prunus ferruginea.
