Prunus geniculata, also known as scrub plum, is a rare species of plum that is native to Florida. It is a low, rounded shrub with sharp-tipped branches and smooth leaves. The plant produces solitary flowers with red sepals and white petals, and its fruit is a bitter-tasting, egg-shaped drupe. It grows in sandhill habitats and is dependent on periodic wildfires for its survival. However, fire suppression and habitat loss due to development are major threats to the species. It is listed as an endangered species and has low recruitment rates due to its low germination rates and loss of developing fruits. The drupe is also consumed by animals.
