Prunus darvasica, also known as the Darvaz plum, is a rare plant that is only found in Tajikistan. It grows as a shrub in the Darvoz Range of the Pamir Mountains, reaching heights of 1.5-2.5 meters. The fruit of this plant is small, about 2 centimeters in size, and has a dark blue color with a waxy coating. The pit of the fruit is brown. Despite its rarity, the fruit is edible and can be used to make jam or compote. It is believed that P. darvasica is a hybrid species, with 48 or 32 chromosomes, possibly resulting from a cross between P. domestica, P. prostrata, and P. cerasifera.
