Prunus brachystachya, also known as the Claudie almond, is a species of Prunus found in Papua New Guinea and Queensland, Australia. It thrives in rainforests and along river banks, growing up to 450 meters above sea level. This tree has gray to brown bark and can reach heights of 15 to 26 meters. Its flowers are white or pale green and grow in a raceme, with hairy petals and sepals. The fruit of this tree is juicy and ranges in color from red to black, and is a favorite food of cassowaries.
