Prunus arabica is a type of wild almond that is commonly found in the Middle East. It is a small shrub with brown bark, growing up to 2 meters tall. Its leaves have a short stem and are 15-44 mm long and 3-10 mm wide. The flowers of this plant have dark red sepals and white, pale pink, or pink petals, and are borne on a 3 mm long pedicel. It thrives in dry areas at high altitudes and is often used for erosion control due to its bushy growth. Recent studies suggest that it may be closely related to Prunus scoparia, and is sometimes cultivated for its windbreak capabilities.
