Kageneckia angustifolia, also known as frangel, is a plant species belonging to the Rosaceae family and is native to Chile. It can be found in the Chilean Coast Range and the Andes, specifically in the Limari to Talca region. This evergreen tree or shrub can grow up to 5 meters tall and has greyish-brown bark that sheds in strips. Its leaves are leathery, toothed, and linear in shape, with a glossy light-green color and measuring about 9 cm in length. The flowers are white and star-shaped, with 5 sepals and 5 petals, and can be found either solitary or in clusters. The fruit is a star-shaped capsule with 5 sections and contains winged seeds. The wood of this plant is used for making coal. The name Kageneckia is in honor of Frederick von Kageneck, an Austrian ambassador to Madrid.
