Crataegus submollis, also known as the northern downy hawthorn, is a species of hawthorn that can reach a height of 7 meters. It is closely related to C. mollis, but has a different native range. This species produces large amounts of red fruit and can be distinguished from C. mollis by its smaller number of stamens per flower. It is native to north-eastern North America and has been introduced in Europe. The thorns of this species are typically numerous and can grow up to 7 cm in length.
