Colubrina asiatica, also known as latherleaf, Asian nakedwood, or Asian snakewood, is a shrub in the Rhamnaceae family that is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Old World. It can be found in eastern Africa, India, southeast Asia, tropical Australia, and the Pacific Islands. This vine-like plant can grow up to 9 meters in length and has glossy, ovate leaves with wavy or serrated margins. Its small, greenish flowers bloom year-round and are followed by berry-like capsules containing gray seeds that can float and spread across oceans. However, in Florida, United States, Colubrina asiatica is considered an invasive species that can displace native plants and disrupt the ecosystem. It has been found in several counties in southern Florida and is listed as a Type 1 exotic invader by the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council.
